We held our second Garden to Table Cooking Class Saturday at Farmington Gardens Garden Center: Hosting a July 4 Gathering. I hope you were able to join us – if you were, here’s a trip down memory lane. If not, here’s a chance see what we were up to. First things first, vegetables needed grilling.. Dick was all over it.
Before class preparation. How many cooks does it take to figure out how to operate a whipped cream dispenser? Looks like at least three.
Soon Shelly was busy greeting our guests.. Overflowing with Sixty-five happy students. Some good sports had to sit outside and peek in.
Time to get this show on the road. Better get the chicken grilling – fast. Let’s slather on that Peach Barbecue Sauce – oh yeah.
Show time! Let’s make some Purple Potato Salad with Pickled Red Onion, Green Olives and Feta Cheese. Oh, and Edible Flowers of course!
We had a great time. Neeners was of course, in residence. Here she is overseeing the serving. She has been known to hide a stash of the best looking pieces of everything and save them for herself for later.
Time for dessert – Blueberry Cheesecake. It is one of Neeners’ old recipes, updated by me. Neeners, of course, first has to take credit for it, and then accuse me of stealing her recipe. Seen here, she is waiting to pounce..
Dessert is everybody’s favorite.
I’d be lost without our friends and relatives who come to help just for the fun of it. Thanks to Dave Jones for these great photos, and to Shelly for all of your help prepping, greeting, and overall indispensableness. Thank you Tricia, Nora, Ari, and Ayla for getting that food plated and served – you make it look so pretty. You all are very precious to me, and I can’t thank you enough for all you do. Dick is always happy when hugs are available!
And that concludes our class. We hope you all had as much fun as we did, and hope to see you in July!
